Training Camp

“The LORD is my light and my salvation, Whom shall I fear? …” - Psalm 27:1a

This week, my squad (shout-out P-Squad!) and I are camping out here at the AIM Training Center before our trek around the world. We’ve been living in our tents, team-building, and preparing emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually for a year of community living and walking with God wherever we go. We’ve focused on everything from sharing the Gospel to cultural differences and how to navigate difficult situations.

I’ve really fallen in love with my squad, and I know soon that we will be breaking out into teams of 5-6 people. Our first destination is Kenya. I hope to share more about that in the coming weeks.

This whole week, there have been so many opportunities to just worship together. On our squad alone, we have multiple individuals who have beautiful voices and play guitar, ukelele, drums, and even harmonica!

We also have enjoyed corporate worship together almost every day we’ve been here. We even had a night of revival together and enjoyed beautiful worship.

Worship has meant a lot to me since I started walking with Jesus. I’d been on a couple of worship teams for the past seven years—and I left the last team for this season so I could be a part of this trip. So being around people who love music and playing together means so much to me.

This Saturday, we will have Squad Wars. We have a dance we will do as a squad, as well as other fun activities. Then, next week, we will be heading to the airport for our first country!
